Parent Participation

EPYSL is a volunteer parent-run organization. Your involvement is essential to the health of the league. All parents are expected to take a turn providing a game snack for their child's team. Please consider doing more than the minimum. It takes a lot of work hours to keep the league going. Coaches and assistant coaches are always needed, as are volunteers to assist with fund-raisers, registration sessions, snack bar and more. New board members must be added each year. Please let your area coordinator know if you can volunteer to help keep the league strong and growing.

Conduct at Games
Families and friends cheering for their favorite players and teams are the lifeblood of the league. Everyone is encouraged to attend and lend support. Parents must, however, remember that the league does not emphasize wins and losses, but rather participation and enjoyment. Sideline cheering must respect this spirit, and be positive and supportive. Challenges to or confrontations with the referees or coaches are completely inappropriate. High spirits are great, but there is no place in youth soccer for high tempers. Parents violating these basic rules may be asked to leave a game or be banned from future games. In extreme cases parents may be required to withdraw their children from the league. Parents dissatisfied with any aspect of the league or the games should contact their area coordinator.
Coaches & Referees

EPYSL coaches are all parent volunteers. EPYSL referees and linesmen are primarily youths paid a small amount for their time and effort. All referees receive official training through CYSA, and several levels of training are offered free-of-charge to interested coaches as well. Coaches are required to respect the participatory, recreational, non-competitive emphasis of the league, and should help the kids have as much fun as possible within the rules of the game and the league.

No Smoking & Alcohol Rule

In the interest of the health and safety of the players and public, and to demonstrate and teach acceptable health principles, the use of tobacco and alcohol is banned on the fields and sidelines and in the stands at all EPYSL events, including practices. Parents, players, coaches or referees violating this ban are subject to disciplinary action.
